PolyPhase operation allows multipleZCC3605A regula- torsto run out of phase while usingminimal input and output capacitance. The operatingsupply voltage range is from 20V down to 4V, making itsuitable for dual, triple or quadruple lithium-ionbattery inputs as well as point of load power supplyapplicationsfrom a 12V or 5V rail. The operating frequency is programmable from 800kHz to4MHzwithanexternalresistor.Thehighfrequency capa- bilityallowstheuseofsmallsurfacemountinductors.Forswitching noise sensitive applications, it can be externallysynchronized from 800kHz to 4MHz. The PHMODE pinallows user control ofthe phase ofthe outgoing clocksignal. The unique constant frequency/controlled on-timearchitectureisidealforhighstep-downratioapplicationsthat are operating at high frequency while demandingfast transient response. Two internal phase-lock loopssynchronize the internal oscillator to the externalclockand also servosthe regulator on-time to lockon toeithertheinternalclockortheexternal clock ifit’spresent.
